St Nicks Night Market, Friday 1st July – It’s a Bristol Ting!
When? Friday 1st July, 6.30pm – 10pm
Where? St Nicholas Market, Corn St, Exchange Avenue
Tings will be hotting up in Bristol’s old city on Friday 1st July, as St Nicks Night Market goes Caribbean on the weekend that would be the legendary St Pauls carnival.
Bristol organisation IT’S A BRISTOL TING, which celebrates Bristol’s diversity and culture, will be bringing their sound system to St Nicholas St for a reggae party to remember. Grab yourself some sugar cane, a fresh coconut, rum cocktail or good old Red Stripe and get your hips moving to the beats.
Taste some real Caribbean treats including juicy jerk chicken, curry goat and ackee and saltfish, or cool down with fresh ice creams, foraged cocktails, fresh oysters, ice cold Prosecco and cider.
Commenting, Marti Burgess from IT’S A BRISTOL TING said: “The influences of Caribbean culture are deeply rooted in Bristol and have been for a long time. Bristol sound systems are famous the world over, people know there is nothing like a reggae party, they love them for the music but also the rum that gets drank and the juicy jerk chicken sizzling in the pan. Recipes for dishes like curry goat, ackee and saltfish and jerk chicken get handed down from generation to generation, each family has their own variation and this is your opportunity to try them out along with sugar cane, coconut water and other Caribbean delights.”
Elsewhere, Rag and Bone are back once again with their energising espresso martinis, and there will be live bands and street food aplenty on Corn Street. All market stalls will be open as usual too, so make sure you take the opportunity to peruse the eclectic mix of goods on offer.
