Oliver Harvey Kit for Nathan Outlaw Academy Students at Cornwall College

Academy Nathan Outlaw at Cornwall College students have been kitted out in style – They were presented with their new chefs whites by Nathan Outlaw himself on a recent visit to the Camborne campus with fellow celebrity chef Paul Ainsworth.

The whites were provided by Academy and Chefs´ Forum sponsor Oliver Harvey. Each set comprises black trousers, cap and necktie, a grey apron and white jacket.  The uniform als features the distinctive Academy Nathan Outlaw at Cornwall College logo, which was embroidered by local firm Torch Embroidery, Redruth.

Nathan, who paid a visit to the campus especially to present the students with their kit, said: “It’s great to see the students so happy, and they look really great in their new whites. Having top quality kit like this obviously makes them proud, and they’re all very enthusiastic and eager to learn. The first term of the Academy has been great, and I’m very excited about the future.”

Jake Symons, 17 from Newquay, and Jess Eddy, 17 from Helston, were among the students from the Academy’s first cohort to receive their new kit.

Jake said: “I think our kit looks really nice and it definitely makes us stand out around college. I’m really glad I applied for the Academy; you don’t get many great opportunities like this in Cornwall, so I feel very lucky.”

Jess added: “I wanted to broaden my knowledge and skills, and I thought that Academy Nathan Outlaw would be a great opportunity for me to do that. Our kit looks brilliant, and feels really comfortable!”

Stuart Mathieson, Curriculum Area Manager for Catering & Hospitality at Cornwall College Camborne, said: “After a tough selection process, where we put the students through their paces with tasting and skills tests, not to mention the interviews, we’ve got a great group of students who are doing extremely well. They’ve worked really hard and got involved with some high-profile events, so I’m really proud of what they’ve achieved so far.”

Dave Linnell, Principal of Cornwall College, said: “I’m very proud of how successful Academy Nathan Outlaw at Cornwall College has become, in such a short space of time. I would like to thank Nathan for devoting his time and energy to the project, and also all the staff and students involved who have worked hard to make it such a success.”
