HCC Conference 2026: Turning Vision into Value Through Collaboration
Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC) will bring together farmers, processors, industry representatives and stakeholders for its annual conference this November, focusing on collaboration across the supply chain to ensure a resilient and competitive future for the Welsh red meat industry.
Taking place on 12 November 2026 at the Members Centre, Royal Welsh Showground, the conference, From Vision to Value: Delivering Success Through Collaboration, will explore how the industry can work together to maximise opportunities and address emerging challenges.
The free-to-attend event follows the launch of HCC’s Strategic Action Plan earlier this year, developed following extensive stakeholder engagement. The plan sets out a vision for a thriving, sustainable and profitable Welsh red meat industry, underpinned by three strategic priority areas.
Among the confirmed speakers is food writer and broadcaster Simon Wright, Chair of the National Food Strategy working group, who will share his views on the future direction of Wales’ food sector. Delegates will also hear from Sophie Colquhoun of Category Insight, who will present new consumer research examining the value of Welsh provenance in red meat purchasing decisions.
HCC Scholar Ben Lloyd James will present findings from his 2025 scholarship study, From Knowledge to Action: Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Pasture-Based Beef and Sheep Systems. Drawing on visits to Ireland, Switzerland and the Netherlands, the study explores practical approaches to improving environmental performance while maintaining productive livestock systems.
The conference will also feature a panel discussion with farmers working with HCC across a range of efficiency and sustainability programmes. They will discuss the importance of measuring and using data to support decision making and to increase the productivity and profitability of a farming business.
Delegates will receive updates from HCC staff on progress across the organisation’s strategic priorities and hear directly from members of the HCC Board.
Meilyr Ceredig, HCC’s Head of Operations and External Affairs, said:
“When we launched our strategic action plan earlier this year, we outlined that achieving HCC’s vision for a thriving, sustainable and profitable Welsh red meat industry would require a shared commitment from across the industry and its stakeholders to build long-term value, resilience and success for the sector.
“This conference provides an opportunity to reflect on the industry’s current position, explore the opportunities and challenges ahead, and hear how HCC is seeking to work with partners across the supply chain to retain and maximise value for Wales.
“Join us to learn more on the latest industry developments, market insight and strategic priorities.”
A networking lunch will be available from 12pm before the conference begins at 1pm.
