TOP CHEFS RAISE STAGGERING SUM FOR HOSPITALITY ACTION

Hospitality Action, the longstanding trade charity for the hospitality industry, received an extremely generous donation of £32,000 from Obsession, Europe’s leading gastronomic event.

Taking place earlier this year at Lancashire’s luxury award-winning boutique hotel, Northcote, the food festival saw 22 industry-acclaimed chefs deliver exclusive menus across 17 consecutive nights including, John Williams of The Ritz and James Close of The Raby Hunt Inn & Restaurant.

A silent auction, with prizes including a diamond pendant, ran throughout generating contributing towards the total amount. With the star culinary line-up possessing 16 Michelin stars between them, the event was a sell-out success.

Nigel Haworth, Patron of Hospitality Action and Chef Proprietor of Northcote, says: “I’m over the moon we’ve managed to raise so much money for such a worthwhile cause. Obsession is a celebration of the best talent our industry has to offer and as much as it’s important to celebrate the great work going on across the industry, it’s equally important to recognise the issues many are facing every day.”

Penny Moore, CEO of Hospitality Action, adds: “Wow! We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support of Craig Bancroft, The Caterer’s Hotelier of the Year 2016, Nigel Haworth and the Northcote team. This year’s fantastic donation is an enormous help towards the ambitious target we set ourselves as we celebrate our 180th year. With plans to reach £1.8m by the end of 2017, events such as this are an incredible boost.”

The money raised will be used to continue to fund the work carried out by the charity, whether that be supporting people through illness or encouraging young people into the industry. For more information about Hospitality Action visit www.hospitalityaction.org.uk
