MasterChef finalist Larkin Cen launches Asian restaurant in Bristol’s new foodie hub

Former MasterChef finalist Larkin Cen is to open his newly announced Bristol restaurant Woky Ko at CARGO, Wapping Wharf from lunchtime, this Friday 28^th October.

Diners at Woky Ko can expect modern twists on familiar Asian dishes using responsibly sourced ingredients with no added MSG. Everything will be cooked fresh to order featuring Larkin’s unique and exciting flavour combinations in what will be a light and casual open-kitchen dining room.

The Bristol-based chef has created a mouthwatering menu, to which more dishes will be added in the coming weeks after opening, and a lunchtime menu and takeaway options will also be introduced. On opening, the menu will initially feature dishes such as:

Chicken Singapore vermicelli, and braised pork chow mein with star anise-infused soy, packed with crunchy Asian vegetables and herbs
Bao (Asian steamed buns) filled with braised and shredded pork with hoi sin ketchup, apple and celeriac slaw and toasted sesame seeds

Moreish Xiao sharing plates including:

Salt and pepper squid with mirin aioli
Triple cooked crispy beef with padron peppers
Seabass tartare with caramelised daikon and a lime and chilli dressing
Sweet and sour chicken, with fresh pineapple, pomegranate and charred red onion salsa

And for dessert, a sweet take on a classic bao, salted caramel ice cream sliders

Larkin said of the new restaurant: “Woky Ko is all about fresh Asian flavours cooked with some serious wok skills. Our team behind the open kitchen pass are total wokstars! But of course, as is my style, the dishes feature some more unusual combinations which we hope people will love. The menus will be a movable feast for sure and we’ll definitely be listening to feedback in the first few weeks of opening to evolve this as we go.

“It’ll be a casual, and very cosy, dining atmosphere for those wanting to sit in our light, modern and brand new shipping container restaurant to enjoy lunch or come in and try our Xiao for dinner. And once we’re settled in, a takeaway option and a lunchtime menu will be added too. CARGO is such an exciting location for this restaurant. We’re in great company, and I can’t wait to be part of this new food community in the city.”

Woky Ko’s opening hours (no reservations) from Friday 28^th October will be:

Tuesday – Thursday – 11:30 – 22:00
Friday – Saturday – 11:30 – 22:30
Sunday – 11:30 – 22:00

Larkin will continue to run the popular Cen restaurant at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, South Wales, which opened as his first restaurant venture in February.

CARGO is the city’s first retail yard made of converted shipping containers and part of Wapping Wharf – Bristol’s new harbourside quarter.
