City of Bristol College student won experiential prize at Lovely Drinks
The Chefs’ Forum was asked to donate prizes for a college competition last summer.
There were some great prizes donated by Forum Sponsors: A chefs accessories from Clifton Food Range and a signed copy of Peter Gorton’s Devon Food Heroes, and a Coffee and cafetiere set from Brian Wogan Coffee.
Two forum members donated experiential prizes:
Martin Blunos offered a day in his kitchen and Lovely Drinks a day’s drink creation!
Experiential prizes offer winners and extremely valuable, money-can’t-buy experience that will stay with them for life!
Jemima Fields, aged 17, won an experience day at Lovely Drinks in a college competition for outstanding achievement. Jemima scooped the fantastic experience with Lovely Drinks for ‘best table lay-up’ in her first year assessments.
Jemima is a great example of an extremely talented generation of budding front-of-house professionals being trained at the college.
These students will change the shape of the hospitality industry for the future.
In recognition of her achievement in the competition, Jemima spent the day at Lovely Drinks helping owners Rick Freeman and Victoria Earle to develop two new juices , Rhubarb and Ginger and Apple & Raspberry. She took home a bottle of each of the drinks she helped to blend.
Jemima will have her name on the labels when the drinks hit the shops in December.
Jemima, who is now in her second year of a BTEC in Catering and Hospitality said:
“I had a very productive day at Lovely Drinks. I really enjoyed testing and mixing the different drinks together and then seeing the end product. It has been a lovely day!”
Director Victoria said
“It was great having Jemima here to help us blend the new juices. With her catering training she understood that you need the right balance of sweetness, acidity and depth to make a really good drink.
She was very confident and enthusiastic and I’m sure she will do really well in her career.”
