Weston College student Ben Debreceni is a finalist in the South West Chef of the Year Competition

Ben Debreceni, a Weston College level 2 VRQ student competed at the South West Chef of the Year at Exeter College over the weekend and made it through as one of the three finalists.

Compulsory components were whiting & pork tenderloin. Ben’s dishes were:
• Beurre Monte poached whiting paves, razor clams, garlic poached salad onion, candy beetroot, peas & radish
• Roasted pork tenderloin, cauliflower textures, heritage carrots, poached potato tubes, glace de viande

Ben is a first time competitor, and held his nerve brilliantly against stiff competition from level 3 students from other colleges and from those in the industry.

Ben now has two weeks to design, perfect and practice two whole new dishes.

The finals are to be held at Exeter College on Monday 27th October – Good luck Ben!
