One of The World’s Best Pastry Chefs, Ewald Notter Hosts his First UK Workshops

The man described as the world’s best pastry chef, Ewald Notter, is coming to Cornwall to undertake his first ever set of workshops in the UK. Chef Notter is known as an innovator and a master of modern-day confectionery arts; he also has a slew of awards under his belt, which includes being the first pastry professional who was inducted in the Pastry Art and Design Hall of Fame.

The workshops, which will be conducted at Cornwall College Camborne and St Austell campuses, will attract chefs from across the UK to enhance their skills, as well as offering a truly unique learning experience for the students at the college.

Lecturer in Patisserie & Confectionery at Cornwall College, Shirley Sweeney, said: “I am so pleased that Ewald agreed to stage his first UK workshop with us. The college has a first class reputation for catering and is one of the best catering colleges in the UK, by hosting Ewald’s workshops this will help to promote our pastry expertise to both local and national organisations and offers a very rare opportunity for our students and professionals to learn from Ewald himself.”

Lauded as the master of modern confectionery arts, Ewald Notter has enjoyed an illustrious career including chef, teacher and author.  Based in Seattle USA, his reputation is well known throughout the patisserie world, with a huge following of dedicated like-minded professionals.  Ewald has worked and competed in over fifteen countries world-wide, drawing large audiences wherever he performs.

Shirley continued: “Chef Notter will be with us in In February 2017 and he will be carrying out practical workshops and demonstrations at Cornwall College Camborne and Cornwall College St Austell.  I learnt my skills from Ewald and had the privilege of working with him as his personal assistant; I am delighted that he will be joining us in the UK and particularly at Cornwall College.”

cam-ewaldThe visit will consist of two days of demo’s at the Camborne campus, where paying visitors can watch and engage with Ewald as he creates stunning examples of his artistic, sugar and chocolate show pieces in a dedicated TV style kitchen and also a two day workshop where people can get hands-on practical experience at the St Austell campus. On this Masterclass Ewald will create a wide variety of palate pleasing artisan chocolates, as well as helping attendees to create a wow factor show piece, teaching those who attend to learn new skills and develop existing ones from the champion himself.

Ewald Notter commented: “I’m really looking forward to my UK visit; I’ve carried out workshops all over Europe but never the UK.  The week-long trip is going to be very hectic, but fun and I look forward to meeting lots of professionals and enthusiasts and hopefully teaching them a few new skills that they can take away”.

Chef Notter as he likes to be known has performed all over the world but never conducted a dedicated workshop in the UK before.  The visit will give both local and national professionals the opportunity to attend some truly inspiring workshops, learning new techniques and handling methods, many of which have been perfected by Chef Notter himself.

The College is taking bookings for those who want to attend.  Demonstrations cost £50 per person and the two day practical workshop is £600 per person which includes all ingredients, learning materials and dedicated Rossum’s chef jacket embroidered to commemorate the visit.
