Vitalijs is from Latvia, and discovered his love for food at an early age helping in his Nans kitchen.
After leaving catering college, near his home town Vecbebri, he quickly took advantage of an apprenticeship under the watchful eye of Mārtiņš Rītiņš – Latvias renowned Head Chef of ‘Vincents’ in Riga.
During his 4 year term, he worked his way up to Senior Chef de Partie before leaving for the UK and taking a short role at Oakwood House, Maidstone, before joining The Ferry House Inn and working his way up to his current role as Head Chef.
In 2014 Vitalijs helped secure the title of ‘Kent Best Dining Pub of the Year’ from Produced in Kent. Quickly followed by a Rosette in 2015. He continues to grow his team, with a heavy focus on utilising local and seasonal produce.
