Ali Golden has been cooking professionally for over 35 years. She has owned and run three restaurants and an outside catering business in the south west of England. Her cooking was originally influenced by her time spent living and working in Switzerland, France and Italy and also by the books of Elizabeth David and Jane Grigson which emphasise the importance of using the best possible ingredients you can find and not overly complicating things.

The cooking of Joyce Molyneux, who used to work up the road at The Carved Angel in Dartmouth, near where Ali started her culinary journey in South Devon, has also been a huge influence and, thankfully, this relationship continues as Joyce is a regular visitor and mentor to her at her restaurant in Bath.

Ali has been the Chef/Proprietor of The Circus Restaurant in Brock Street for the past ten years, one of the busiest independent restaurants in Bath, where she delivers a short, seasonally-changing menu using mainly local ingredients in an original and imaginative way.

Apart from being a favourite local haunt, The Circus has received recognition in all the major food guides and was deemed “Our favourite place to eat in Bath” by the Lonely Planet Guide and a “Welcoming family-run gem” by The Good Food Guide .
