Summary of role

We are looking for both senior and junior sous chefs who will hold a pivotal role in the commercial success of our bars.  The role is crucial to ensure that both customers and team members enjoy a great experience in Bar 44.  The ability to do the following would be essential:

  • communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, outstanding interpersonal skills
  • illustrate knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures in a fast paced environment
  • show leadership, organisation and planning skills, strong problem solving skills
  • deputise in the absence of the Head Chef and run the kitchen
  • assist Head Chef in menu compilation, costings, specifications, daily specials
  • identify methods to improve profitability
  • illustrate the ability to train junior chefs, share best practice and inspire new talent
  • keep abreast of current trends within the food industry
  • illustrate full knowledge and compliance in all elements of kitchen hygiene and food safety
  • demonstrate a genuine passion and outstanding skill for cooking great ingredients and delicious food


  • Salary band – £19k – £23k per annum according to experience and turnover of bar where placed, plus tips which are paid to all staff for every hour that they work (estimate an additional £3.5k plus per annum for full time staff)
