Matt Budden Judges the Enterprise and Skills Harvest ‘YES CHEF’ 1st Round at The Bourne Academy
The Enterprise and Skills Harvest YES CHEF competition visited The Bourne Academy holding one of the first round qualifier sessions. 12 students had to cook a soup of their choice accompanied with a mouse and a biscuit. They all showed great knowledge, understanding and motivation in creating some great dishes. There were three places up for grabs and the competition was strong.
Marriott Executive Chef Matt Budden returned to his old school to form one of the judging panel and said:
“The standard that the Yes Chef competition strives for and delivers is exceptional bearing in mind some of the students ages, abilities and back grounds, in a challenging time sensitive situation they almost all managed to put up some great simple flavour driven dishes. I was impressed by their aptitude to the tasks, their ability to understand the briefs and asking for guidance when needed all with a smile! The schools should be proud of what their students achieved and the example that they have set for others in the completion I look forward to seeing the other heats and how the quarter finalists from today progress”.
The three lucky qualifiers will go through to the quarter finals next year. This will be held at the White Pepper Cookery School hosted by top chef Luke Stuart.
