South African-born Henk runs the Halfway House Inn at St Jidgey on the outskirts of Wadebridge, and owns Trevisker’s Kitchen and Dining at Trevisker Garden Centre, near Padstow.
Known for his skill with steak, Henk’s lifelong passion for beef is understandable – his grandfather was a cattle farmer. Expert in the art of butchery and the science of beef ageing, Henk can effortlessly transform cuts of beef into mouthwatering taste sensations.
Over the years Henk’s worked across north Cornwall developing a loyal following with local clientele and world-famous chefs alike. A keen golfer, he ran the kitchens at Trevose Golf and Country Club for five years, took over the Halfway House in 2016 and opened Trevisker’s in 2017.
Henk has developed a reputation for excellent quality, locally sourced food, especially fish from Newlyn. Now his famous steaks and ‘very nice chips’ are a trademark of his menu.
His mission is simple – no fuss or frills, just expertise, craft and quality food that everyone can enjoy.
