Stuart’s experience in hospitality and catering spans over 16 years. Originally training in his hometown of Southampton, he moved to the delightful county of Devon nearly 10 years ago working under Masterchef Peter Gorton at the 3 Rosette Horn of Plenty in Tavistock.
Stuart landed his first position as Head Chef at the ripe young age of 23 at the boutique country house hotel in St Elizabeth’s House near Plymouth, before being headhunted by Peter Gorton to return to Horn of Plenty to take the helm of the kitchen.
He has more recently moved away from the fine-dining style of cooking, adopting a relaxed approach, letting the ingredients speak for themselves. After a 3 year stint as Head Chef at South Sands Hotel in Salcombe he moved to the Rose and Crown in Yealmpton before settling into his role at The Cricket Inn in Beesands.
Stuart’s role at the Cricket Inn is very varied and offers him a chance to manage all aspects of the business. His main duties are now focussed on operations of the Cricket Inn, the customer experience, the service and he still has time to dabble in the kitchen!
