George’s passion for cooking and food stemmed from feasts at his family home in Devon, filled with exceptional local produce, and trips to the restaurant where his mother worked. Time spent watching the chefs in the kitchen, and a childhood buying freshly caught fish, foraging sea kale on the beaches and picking elderberries in the hedgerows, lead George to pursue a career as a chef.
Following catering college and a short spell running a bar with friends in Exeter, George joined the team at Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s celebrated River Cottage, where he quickly climbed through the ranks to the position of Sous Chef. He then moved to London, working in several reputable kitchens including Nuno Mendes’ Viajante and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and later spending two years as Development Chef at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen.
George became Head Chef at Kitty Fisher’s in Mayfair in early 2017. In June 2018 he was promoted to Chef Director, and worked with the team behind Kitty Fisher’s to launch Cora Pearl in Covent Garden. The restaurant opened to great critical acclaim and soon became a must visit destination on the London dining scene. George joined Wild by Tart as Head Chef in August 2021 where he works collaboratively with culinary founders Lucy Carr-Ellison and Jemima Jones on the ever-changing seasonal menu.
