About the role
We want you to take our already high profile catering sites at Killerton to exciting new culinary heights. We have three catering sites (a grab and go kiosk, Stables Café and restaurant) with a total of 180 covers. We’ll give you the freedom to create and plan all the menus, making full use of the fresh, local, seasonal produce that’s growing around you. And we really do mean growing around you: 70% of the ingredients we use in our kitchens are locally sourced by our chefs. So from snacks to desserts, from home-cooked favourites to bold culinary creations, you’ll delight our customers and have them coming back for seconds. You’ll also make sure that we’re running a profitable kitchen, and that everything’s clean and tidy (and waste is kept to a minimum).
We’ll help you to be an even better chef too, with training, support and the chance to study for professional qualifications. By helping you up your cooking game, you’ll help us raise the profile of catering here at Killerton. Mind you, we appreciate that you have a life outside of work, so we don’t do split shifts. This means that as well as enjoying a rewarding job, you’ll have an altogether better work-life balance. You’ll be required to work some occasional evenings.
About you
You love great food as much as we do and you never settle for anything less than perfect. From the first plate to the last, you pride yourself on turning out outstanding dishes. Naturally, you’ll already have an impressive amount of hands-on catering experience under your apron, plus a relevant food preparation and cooking qualification and a minimum Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate. We’d also like you to have some experience of managing and mentoring a kitchen team and are comfortable doing cooking demos or workshops.
