The Academy for Professional Skills at the University of West London is in a unique position – providing high quality professional and technical education and apprenticeships in hospitality, catering and allied subjects within a university environment.

In 2013 the Academy was awarded Outstanding by Ofsted.  The Academy is determined to maintain this grade and is seeking an apprenticeship manager in a recruitment and coordination role working with employers, apprentices and full – time students in order to achieve our mission to be the first choice for quality hospitality and catering education in London.

We are fortunate in having excellent links with industry, schools and colleges giving the newly appointed apprenticeship manager an excellent platform on which to grow and develop the provision.

The Academy is a vibrant community which is well resourced with seven training kitchens and two commercial restaurants including the award winning Pillars Restaurant.

This role will require the post holder to have the capacity to engage employers and potential students with regard to the recruitment of apprenticeships, as well as full and part time courses offered by the Academy. In addition the post holder will be expected to engage and contribute to the recruitment of employers and students for higher and degree apprenticeships which will be delivered across the university.

The ability of the post holder to develop new business partners that can have multiple apprenticeship requirements that can be fulfilled across university will be crucial.

This is specialist recruitment and coordination role that requires the post holder to have sector knowledge as well as a clear understanding of the apprenticeship structures including frameworks, standards, funding and contractual issues.

The post holder will have excellent organisation and administration skills with an eye for detail and accuracy. They must be able to work in a team and have a high level of self-motivation. Effective communication skills appropriate for various stakeholder groups will be needed as verbal presentations to a range of audiences will be part of the job role. Specialist knowledge and interest in the UK skills agenda will be an advantage.
