Born into a Punjabi family and originally from Madhya Pradesh, India, Rohit worked in India for the Oberois and Taj hotel groups. Michelin-starred Rohit Ghai has become one of the culinary world’s most in-demand chefs after a hugely successful decade on the London restaurant scene. He was recently awarded his latest prestigious Michelin star at Jamavar, Mayfair and now he enters an exciting new era in his career, with his first solo venture. Chef Ghai’s precise and innovative cooking techniques and dishes have won him praise from celebrities, dignitaries and some of the nation’s most discerning food critics.
Rohit Ghai, the Chef that won a Michelin star at Jamavar in record-breaking time, opened his first solo site, Kutir in late 2018.
Located just off Chelsea’s Sloane Square in an elegant townhouse, Kutir offers a punchy, authentic and traditional menu from one of the UK’s most successful and creative Indian Chefs.
Kutir, meaning ‘cottage’ in Sanskrit, draws inspiration from the royal tradition of hunting expeditions in the luscious forests and jungles of the Indian countryside. The food is representative of the feasting-style, convivial and celebratory dining that occurs on these retreats, and menus feature highly seasonal ingredients with an emphasis on game and seafood.
Kutir offers a tasting, or ‘expedition’ menu of 6 courses for £65, as well as a full a la carte menu featuring dishes such as the Truffle Mushroom pulao, the Lal Maas , vangi bhaat, raspberry bhappa doi, 24-hour Slow-cooked Roganjosh, and a Tandoori Salmon with Dill & Mooli Raita and pickle.
Rohit Ghai has an impressive CV, having been Executive Chef at Bombay Bustle, Jamavar (earning a Michelin-star in under a year – the first time an Indian Chef has ever done this in the UK) Gymkhana, Hoppers, Trishna, Verandah (in Copenhagen) and Benares over the last 10 years. His award-winning Indian food has attracted international praise and critical acclaim.
