Currently Head Chef at the Tytherleigh Arms in Axminster. Originally from Peterborough, I moved down to the South West a few years ago and fell in love with it. At 26 I’ve been cooking for just over 10 years, I started off at college where I spent 3 years studying food and beverage service. I took the plunge into London life, in my first fine-dining Michelin restaurant. As a young chef working in London it was a great experience for me especially from working my way up through the ranks, meeting new people and learning a great deal. I’ve worked in Michelin star restaurants, 5 star hotels and country gastro pubs, so I have a wide variety of knowledge.
A highlight of mine would be working at the prestigious Lympstone Manor.
I am very ambitious and I want to achieve my own accolades at the Tytherleigh Arms, we already have a great reputation and it would be amazing if I could reach 3 AA rosettes and even a Michelin star in the future – aim high I always say!
I love living in Devon where there’s beautiful countryside and produce. We love going for long walks with my dog Ruby the Cavapoo and have recently found a new love for running. I am also a big football fan supporting Leeds United.
Advice I would give to a young chef is stay humble, work hard and keep your head down. Stay passionate, find your own style and what makes you happy. Also keep notes and write everything down. Join the greatest industry because there are endless opportunities.
