The Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation (SSPO) represents all of Scotland’s salmon farmers, who between them grow the UK’s biggest food export and the UK shoppers’ number one fish of choice. Regularly voted the finest fish in the world and winner of numerous international taste tests farmed salmon is Scotland’s superfood. It is rich in essential Omega-3 fatty acids, high in nutrients including Vitamin D and packed full of high quality protein, with NHS guidelines suggesting people should eat two portions a week of oily fish such as salmon as part of a healthy, balanced diet.

The fish are reared in the cool, clear Atlantic waters of Scotland’s rugged west coast and islands, grown sustainably to world-leading standards of welfare and cared for by dedicated farmers who are integral parts of the remote rural communities in which they farm. Scottish salmon has a lower carbon footprint than most other animal proteins, the best feed in, feed out ratio and more than 70% of farms are RSPCA Assured.
